The Granger M50 "Plexi" valve amplifier is a hand-wired reproduction of the legendary early 70's 50 watt amp that is a rock legend. Allman to Zeppelin - classic tones that defined a musical revolution. This 50 watt monster carries on that tradition. The controls are classic. There are no footswitches, internal relays, or other signal-degrading components. It is based on tried and true circuitry and rock-solid construction methods. As with some of the vintage amps of the 60s and 70s, each channel has two inputs, one high and one low impedance, and a volume control. A (post phase inverter) master volume (based on Ken Fisher's design) can be added to achieve classic crunch at lower volumes (installed on back or in place of the 4th input jack - please specify when ordering). Each channel shares the standard Bass, Middle and Treble tone stack and Presence control. The inputs can be jumpered to utilize both channels with channel 1 being the bright and channel 2 being the normal voicing. The preamp consists of 3 ECC83S valves and power is rectified by a overspec'd 12A full wave rectifier to produce a punchy, tight powerful low end. The power section runs on two E34Ls which produce over 50 watts when fully overdriven. KT77s can be substituted during ordering if you prefer smoother high end. For the service-minded player, an external bias adjustment with low voltage test points allows the user to bias the amp when replacing valves without removing the chassis (standard feature, only requires removal of the back panel). The 2x12 combo features one Weber alnico SilverBell and one Weber alnico BlueDog speaker. Other speaker options are available upon request.
