M50 Plexi amplifier

Inspiring, unforgettable tone can be yours! The Granger M50 Plexi vacuum tube amplifier is our flagship model. The M50 Plexi is a hand-wired reproduction of the legendary late 60’s/early 70’s 50 watt amp that became a rock legend, only more!

Capable of providing one of the most accurate recreations of Van Halen’s early tone (as demonstrated in our product videos and audio clips below), as well as Allman to Zeppelin – classic tones that defined a musical revolution – it’s all here. The controls are classic. There are no footswitches, internal relays, or other signal-robbing components. It is based on tried and true circuitry, years of actual gigging and tweaking the circuit, and rock-solid construction methods.

As with some of the vintage amps of the 60s and 70s, each channel has two inputs, one high and one low impedance, and a volume (gain) control. A (post phase inverter) master volume (based on Ken Fisher’s Type II design) is standard on the amp. Each channel shares the standard Bass, Middle and Treble tone stack and Presence control. The inputs can be jumpered to utilize both channels with channel 1 being the bright and channel 2 being the normal voicing, without the extreme bass frequencies that muddy up the tone. The preamp consists of 3 ECC83S valves and power is rectified with UF4007 diodes to produce a dynamic, yet tight low end.

The power section runs on two EL34s which produce over 50 watts when fully overdriven. Other output tubes can be substituted during ordering (see below). For the service-minded player, an external bias adjustment with low voltage test points allows the user to bias the amp when replacing tubes without removing the chassis (standard feature, only requires removal of the back panel).

X-Gain and our Ultimate FX Loop are now standard on every amp! X-Gain allows the two channels to be cascaded (switched from parallel to series) for modern 80’s type gain (Randy Rhoads, George Lynch, etc.), while our Ultimate FX Loop provides the use of external effects after the gain stages, with zero-loss. We also offer an option for traditional (black) turret board wiring, choice of front logo, and an expedite order option to move your order to the top of our build queue.

The 1×12 combo features a Warehouse Guitar Speakers Lead 80 speaker. The 2×12 combo features (1) Warehouse Guitar Speakers Veteran 30 and (1) WGS ET65 speaker. Other speaker options are available upon request. Custom options include tolex & piping changes, and a custom cover with the Granger logo.
